The 2 to 5 Times Tables

There are three posters/transparencies covering the 2 times table to the 13 times table. This is the first poster/transparency, containing the 2 times table to the 5 times table. The times tables are an accompaniment to a book , entitled the Times Tables. The tables are presented in an innovative format which includes: ‘How we read it’, ‘How we write it’ and ‘How we interpret it’. There is a rhythm associated with the way we read the tables and it is hoped that this will help children to memorise the tables easily. The interpretation of multiplication as repeated addition will help their understanding of this operation. It is also hoped that the tables will help children to write figures in words and vice versa.

The Four Rules

Many children leave school without knowing the definitions and properties of the four basic operations on real numbers. This poster/transparency is intended to draw their attention to the definitions and properties of the operations and to highlight other term which are used for the operations. The results of these operations are also given since these are sometimes used in examination questions. In fact, some children do not know that these four operations are usually called The Four Rules.
